As a project manager for Cultuurhuis De Nieuwe Doelen, I am working on developing a future-proof cultural center that will have a broad social and cultural function for Gorinchem and the region. My task focuses on connecting content, organization, finances, and spatial development, and on creating support from the municipality, cultural partners, and other stakeholders.

Culture House De Nieuwe Doelen
An important part is the development of the Program of Principles and Program of Requirements, along with a group of involved cultural producers from the city, and translating them into a realistic operating model. In doing so, we examine, among other things, the relationship between programming, room rental, catering, staffing, and housing costs. The operating model has been refined several times in recent times and forms an important basis for decision-making regarding the next phase.
Thematically, the emphasis is on a low-threshold and widely accessible cultural center, with a special emphasis on amateur art, young people, and local creators. The Nieuwe Doelen should primarily be a place where residents, associations, schools, and amateur artists can rehearse, perform, and meet each other. In this way, in collaboration with the other institutions, the cultural center can become a facility that currently lacks in Gorinchem.
